Kano

The UK grime scene seems to be redeeming itself just when we thought it was all over. We would be perfectly happy for Dizzee, Wiley and Kano to sell out once in a while if it meant they could go out and make bangers like this. Boys Noize is all up in this one as well as Wiley and Aidonia. 'Call it the gashmobile'!

Kano - Get Wild featuring Aidonia & Wiley

Klaxons

From nu-rave to nu-metal Klaxons have dumped the man behind the neon sound-system James Ford in favor of Korn and Limp Bizkit producer Ross Robinson. The result is basically a standard Klaxons sound but with the guitars turned up to eleven, which is actually pretty good. It's like being at one of their first shows when they still had their "The".

They were always going to be one of the more enduring bands of the scene, the depth of their abilities was apparent right from the get go unlike some of their contemporaries; NYPC, Hadouken! Heck even CSS bottled it (We really hope they come back though, the other two...not so much). We hope that album has some more like this, though we're sure they will stick in a melodic one to please the fair-weather fans and get a bit of snyc done. Limp Bizkit had some melodic ones (re-arranged anyone?).

Klaxons - Flashover

Eurovision Memories

In honor of this weekends Eurovision finals in Oslo we pick out two of our favourites from past years. Neither of these won. Outrageous we know.

Starting with this bizarre couple from Bosnia:

Huoratron

Keeping it pretty violent and fucked up we present a new video from Cedric Blaisbois. The guy behind the erotic gluttony that was the 'Flesh' video. This one is set to some pretty tweaked out filthy electro and certainly pulls no punches. Shakira ain't got nothin' on this she-wolf/octovampire...bitch.

"CORPORATE OCCULT" Huoratron Music Video from Cédric BLAISBOIS

Paul Gray RIP

A quick word of remembrance on the demise of Slipknot's bass player. One of the more enduring bands from the nu metal scene they celebrated the tenth anniversary of their self-titled first album last year. Gray was one of the founders of the band channeling their discontent with mid-western life into raucous violent metal way back in 95'. Here is a favourite of ours:

The Informers pt. II

Tomorrow night we have live performances from:

Our very own DECIMALDECIMAL kicks off the second Informers night with a set full of electronic wizardry and ethereal soundscapes sure to capture your imagination and your hearts.

With a busy schedule full of gigs including support slots for Get Cape Wear Cape Fly and Feeder in the diary we thought we would grab TRICK THE FOX in for a spot before they get too huge. Mixing a true urban sound with a melodic grooves to great effect this is definitely a band to add to your summer playlist.

TRICK THE FOX - Take It Back

Tunes all night provided by the Back Door Man DJ's playing whatever we feel like.

Doors at 8pm, free entry, 2 for 1 cocktails and cheap beer. What's your excuse?

Othello Woolf

This mornings mailbox revealed a lovely remix of the new Othello Woolf track courtesy of Man Like Me. We direct you to the Young And Lost Club 'Digital Club' where you can find all sorts of mp3 shaped goodies for your ears. This one has a really nice bouncy soft disco feel and we're looking forward to spinning it this Thursday.

Othello Woolf - Doorstep (Man Like Me Remix)

Ian Curtis

30 years ago today Ian Curtis ended his life. An absolute tragedy considering the potential of Joy Division with him at the helm. With numerous acts since taking huge inspiration from his style it is safe to say that his influence remains with us. RIP Ian.

Mr Flash

Arguably the best track from his most recent EP 'Blood, Sweat And Tears' here is a video that makes eating meat and cakes in an erotic fashion look like church. We expect some other bodily fluids to be spilled in the name of this one.

Spot the difference...

Will someone please explain the difference between this:

and this:

Well done to Lethal for extending the shelf-life of Primark's "Pretend you remember the 80's" collection. [applause]

Dizzee Rascal

We never thought it would be possible after the series of utterly dreadful money making tracks he released over the past 18 months but it would appear Dizzee has still got some fight left him. Production comes from post-dubstep posterboys du jour Chase & Status. This one was a big surprise.

Dizzee Rascal - Heavy

Everything But The Girl

Bit of nostalgia now. Remember this song?

Lead singer of the band was on Jools Holland with a pretty decent version of a Simon and Garfunkel classic that we thought we would share with you.

EBTG - The Only Living Boy In New York

MIA

So MIA you've just done a video that shows the massacre of a bunch of ginger kids and a snippet of obese porn, what are you going to do now?

We aren't really sure what to make of this new track. Is it a joke? Is it some kind of slant against the current trend of txt/pop culture language in modern pop music? Or is it just a shit song?

Also what does this quote from NME mean?

"It baffles me that everyone seems to be obsessed with deciphering the meaning to it. It baffles me in the same way as the Brick Lane riot for American Apparel leggings baffled me. We don't know what the process is for this one is yet. I haven't thought about it yet and I don't want to have to."

If you make a controversial video. People are going to question it. That's it. You can't expect the Daily Mail to keep its oar out when kids are getting shot on the screen. Also who is baffled by the "riot" at the American Apparel flea market? It wasn't really much of riot, more of a disorderly queue with a guy standing on a car.

MIA - XXXO

Surfer Blood

Completing a Kanine Records triple post we thought it only fair to tell you to go out and get the Surfer Blood album. They are playing the Garage this week and a bunch of festivals this summer so give them all of your love.

Surfer Blood - Swim

Kisses

Continuing on the Princeton theme why not have a listen to the side project from member Jesse. Oozing with Chillwave feelings it also has an undeniable lounge quality to it. Feels like the type of music that Bret Easton Ellis' characters would dance around to in a white plastic LA mansion before falling into a drug/sex addled heap on that shagpile carpet.

Kisses - Bermuda

Princeton

Playing at the OBL tonight are Princeton; California's answer to all the Brooklyn shoegazing. These guys have been tipped for greatness at pretty much every industry get together for the past 2 years, SXSW CMJ's you name it the hype has followed them. We're psyched to see them play in our backyard.

Princeton - Calypso Gold

2:54

Thanks to Romy from The XX for this tip. The girls from Roulette Magazine have started making some music and boy does it sound great. First track 'Creeping' has a near perfect Gen X juxtaposition of delicate female vocals and throwaway garage punk riffs. We crave a follow up. It could be the indie 7" of the summer.

Hurts (Jamaica Remix)

A touch of French disco glamor applied by Jamaica was all it took to turn an already amazing track into a surefire dance-floor smash. The perfect taster for what will surely be a memorable one tomorrow.

Hurts - Better Than Love (Jamaica Remix)

La Roux for guidos

We got a situation! Get your abs juiced, your hair greased, pull out your best Ed Hardy tee and get your fist in the air because this one is absolutely banging! No disrespect to anyone else or their mothers of course but if you're out creeping at Karma this is what the chicks are vibing on. One more thing; Do you date us?

La Roux - Bulletproof (Hyper Crush Remix)

Ratatat

We were going to put up one of Ratatat's new tracks but our major record label danger sense was tingling so instead we will just tell you to go and find out about it yourself. It's doing pretty well on the hype charts at the moment, pretty much the whole album in its entirety is up there so off you go. Sounding more like a nice M83 number than the usual thunderous beats 'Party With Children' is probably our favourite. Physical copies come out in June for the vinyl lovers, accompanied we hope with a tour.
